Michael Janssen, D.O., Chairman of the Board
A native of the Midwest, Dr. Janssen has had a vision of developing a unique specialized practice with a group of physicians that focuses on the treatment of spinal disorders. He built and developed the Center for Spinal Disorders and sees patients from all the world. Board certified in both the American Board of Orthopedic Surgeons and the American Board of Spine Surgeons, Dr. Janssen enjoys research, international lecturing and teaching as well as keeping with current trends in the care of patients with spinal disorders. His hobbies include snow skiing, snowboarding, water skiing, scuba diving, and fly-fishing.
Monroe Levine, M.D.
Dr. Levine retired as the Chief of Orthopaedic Surgery from the Medical College of Georgia in April of 2002 and serves as Professor Emeritus. He is a Board Certified Orthopaedic Surgeon specializing in degenerative spine disorders, spinal deformities, trauma, tumors, and infections of the spine. Dr. Levine is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. Dr. Levine came to the Center for Spinal Disorders with the goal of providing high quality medical care and enhancing patient outcome to achieve active lifestyles. He is involved in research and education for the advancement of spinal treatments.
Noel Busck
A native of Long Island, New York, Noel Busck has lived in Denver since 1959. A true self-made man, Busck worked his way through the Public Service Company, starting as a laborer in 1964 and retiring from the company in 1995 after becoming Superintendent of Gas Operations. He also worked for three years as Assistant to the VP of Operations and retired from the Union Power Company after being elected Mayor of Thornton in November 1999. He enjoys politics and has previously served for ten years on the Thornton City Council from 1984-1994. As Mayor, Busck still finds time for hobbies and ways to be involved in the community. He enjoys swimming and watching movies.
R. Todd Welter
President of R.T. Welter & Associates, Inc., a local consulting firm dedicated to assisting physicians, Ambulatory Surgery Centers, and other physician groups with proper coding, regulatory compliance, and all aspects of managed care reimbursement. Todd is a member of Regis University's faculty where he teaches several classes as well as participates in course design for their Health Care Studies programs. Todd is a recognized national expert in managed care and physician reimbursement. He has written many articles and is asked to speak on these subjects all around the country. Todd enjoys skiing, fishing, and woodworking. He lives in Arvada, CO with his lovely wife and two wonderful children.
Alan Talesnick
Alan is a securities, corporate, and business transactional attorney who provides legal services for small and medium size publicly traded companies, companies desiring to go public, and for business entities and individuals involved in business transactions, contracts, or other business arrangements. Alan attended high school in Indianapolis, IN, graduate from Harvard College, Harvard Law School, and Harvard Business School, and is a partner in Patton Boggs LLP, a 400 attorney law firm with primary offices in Denver, Dallas, and Washington DC. Alan has resided in the Denver area for 25 years, enjoying tennis, skiing, theater, youth coaching, and family activities.
Cathy Ernst
Catherine Ernst is Managing Partner of MindShare, HDV, LLC, a dynamic analysis, modeling and system software development company specializing in business redesign, corporate integration software and services, and biomedical informatics. Prior to MindShare, cathy was a producer and director for international communication programs and information systems with various hospitals and research organizations in the Southwest such as the Texas Heart Institute and NASA. She is committed to exploring new methods and strategies applying cognitive science to expert system to advance medical research. Cathy enjoys skiing, hiking Colorado's mountain peaks, and traveling in her spare time.
Hugh McPherson, M.D.
Hailing from Canada, Dr. McPherson is the newest Spine Education and Research Institute Board Member. Dr. McPherson is a Board Certified Spine Surgeon at the Center for Spinal Disorders.
Sharon Kelly, D.O.
Dr. Kelly is a graduate of the University of Health Sciences in Kansas City, MO. Dr. Kelly received her fellowship training at Children's Hospital in Denver. She is board certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology and Blood Banking/Transfusion Medicine. Sharon enjoys scuba diving, crocheting, and family activities.
Chi Lam, M.S.
Chi Lam holds a B.S. in Neurobiology from the University of Colorado and a M.S. in Anatomy from Colorado State University. Chi is the Director of the Spine Education and Research Institute. Chi enjoys traveling and spending time with her husband and two young children.
