DOUG KASOW, D.O., 2006-2007 Fellow
"Through the fellowship at the internationally acclaimed Spine Education and Research Institute (SERI) and Center for Spinal Disorders (CSD), I have the opportunity to work with some of the most respected surgeons in the field, Drs. Michael Janssen, Douglas Beard, Hugh McPherson, and Monroe Levine."
Dr. Kasow grew up in the South and most of his family resides in Atlanta. He comes from a family of five, where for the exception of one sister, everyone is in the medical field. From about 13 years old, he knew he wanted to pursue orthopedics. He originally wanted to become a sports physician; however, as his orthopedic residency at the Medical College of Georgia progressed, his view changed. The intensity, broad range of treatment possibilities, and amount of research going on in the field drew him to a new direction--the spine.
Aside from focusing his energy on spinal surgery, Dr. Kasow enjoys spending time with his wife, Nikki, and their cat, Boolittle. They both enjoy sports and outdoor activities such as snowboarding, hiking, sporting events, and running.
